The Sai Prema Foundation Fiji has so far distributed groceries and food packs which is equivalent to over 175,000 meals to underprivileged and needy families in Fiji.

They have done this through their Annapoorna Free meals project.

Foundation Director Sumeet Tappoo says the recipients of their free meals project includes single mothers, families who have disabled people and families with a lot of children.

He says they have found out that a lot of these adults cannot afford to feed their children.

Tappoo says in 2018 and 2019 they provided 30,000 meals a year and now they are giving out groceries which equates to 30,000 meals a month.

Tappoo adds they are currently providing these grocery packs to needy families in Viti Levu and they have plans to assist the needy people in Vanua Levu and the outer islands.

Tappoo says they do this very silently all across Viti Levu to ensure there is long term sustainability.
