Children must be supervised at all times by an adult and never be allowed to supervise other children when out swimming.

Fiji Police Force says whether heading out for a picnic or other water-related activities today, keep in mind that safety is the key in everything you do, and please keep a close watch over the little ones.

The Force says if you are not a confident swimmer, do not attempt to venture into deeper waters and make sure that you always swim with a buddy.

Drowning is preventable, if you take all necessary safety precautionary measures.
