SODELPA Leader Viliame Gavoka.

SODELPA is looking at assisting 1,000 students with school supplies who have been affected by Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

Party Leader Viliame Gavoka says he led a team to Vanua Levu to carry out assessments in certain areas and to determine ways in which they will be able to assist those affected.

Gavoka says for him, seeing the damaged homes and schools and to hear the stories from those affected by the cyclone is heart- wrenching.

He says to not duplicate the tremendous effort of those that have come to assist, SODELPA will focus on education especially with school commencing on the 18th of this month and most of these parents who have lost their homes are already worried about their children’s educational needs and requirements.

He adds they have launched a SODELPA TC Yasa Back To School Relief Appeal in their bid to assist at least 1,000 students with $20 worth Relief Pack.

Gavoka says the Party is in communication with the National Disaster Management Office in regards to their relief assistance.

People can donate to this worthy cause through the SODELPA Hurricane and Disaster Relief ANZ Account: 12647841.
