SODELPA MP Mosese Bulitavu

SODELPA MP Mosese Bulitavu has shown his support for the 2021-2022 National Budget and also Bill No.17.

Speaking in Parliament during the Budget debate, Bulitavu says the budget needs to provide a certain kind of relief and that is the bottom line in all of this.

He says last year, in his response to the budget, he had highlighted the Government’s need to put measures in place, and also funding, supported by policies that need to provide relief to citizens, and the measurement for any budget during the crisis will always need to meet the requirement of sustaining the people during this crisis.

He adds he sees a decisive plan in the 2021/2022 budget, providing solutions for those affected and are suffering from the effects of COVID-19 and at the same time, trying to create the demand of people spending through the various assistance to create the economic spin, and also the much-needed growth.

Bulitavu says there are vital policies in the budget, which will assist our efforts to revive the economy which is something that all Governments should be preparing for and looking forward to the future.

The SODELPA MP says the budget has also some attachments and conditions to it such as the no jab, no job condition on the assistance but people must view this from a perspective that we are in a war and strategies will need to be in place for us to regain normalcy faster.

Speaking from a landowners’ perspective, Bulitavu says Bill No 17 or the Bill to amend the iTaukei Land Trust Act is very important, especially moving into entrepreneurship and people do not need to only look at this from the view that this is for the individual tenants because some tenants who want to venture into a business will also benefit from this.

He says landowners need to be encouraged to know how to use their natural resources and use the policies that are in place to get the funding so they can accelerate into the business sector.

He adds we need to strike a balance and unite and find a solution to move forward.
