Following the fire at Rups Big Bear’s Raiwaqa location in the early hours of this morning, Rups confirms the 10 employees at this location have been relocated to the next factory.

While responding to questions by fijivillage News, the company says the fire was at a mattress making factory they owned.

They confirm no one was injured.

Rups say all operations are being normalised but due to the damage, their location will be temporarily closed while they assess the situation.

The company also says it is too early to determine the cost of the damages.

They add they are also incredibly grateful for the quick response from emergency services and firefighters at National Fire Authority.

Meanwhile, a bus belonging to the Raiwaqa Buses Company, located beside the factory, was destroyed.

Raiwaqa Buses say the company manager and a few bus drivers were still at the premises and were able to move several buses out of the garage.

They say the bus that caught fire could not start, which led to it being engulfed in flames.

NFA confirms investigations will begin tomorrow, once the site has cooled down.
