The Rotary Club of Suva Peninsula Sunset has extended their assistance to those in need by delivering 165 Diwali food packs to HART Homes along the Suva-Nausori corridor.

Association President Jason Chandra says the assistance is valued at $10,000, and the hampers consist of essential food items and assorted Diwali sweets.

He says this annual initiative aims to provide essential food items to those members of the community in need.

Chandra says with the tradition spanning over two decades, the Association also undertakes a similar initiative during Christmas, where they reach out to HART Home recipients with essential food items.

He acknowledged the contribution of $6,000 from Westpac Fiji to their Diwali signature event.

He also extended his appreciation to their club members for their generosity and financial contributions to this noble cause.

The President adds they believe that through their modest efforts, they can make a meaningful contribution to the lives of people in the community.

Chandra also expressed his appreciation to the late Association President, Champak Patel of Eskay Motors, who over the past decades, had been championing their Diwali Hamper distribution initiative.

He says they lost a great friend and a committed Rotarian in September this year who would forever be dearly missed by one and all.

He adds the legacy and memories that he leaves behind will forever be cherished and this year’s Diwali Hamper distribution is dedicated to him for his unwavering support and contributions to Rotary and its many initiatives.
