Sponsoring the Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua team is one of the best initiatives we have taken and we are proud of it.

This was highlighted by Rooster Chicken Chief Executive Officer, Stanley Raniga while speaking during the Fiji Rugby International Women’s Day celebration.

Raniga says when they were approached by Fiji Rugby Union informing them about the Fijiana Drua's participation in the Super W competition last year, they have already allocated funds for the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua men's team.

He says they took the step of sponsoring the women's team without any idea of the capabilities the team had which they later went on to win the Super W competition last season.

Raniga says they never regretted their decision of sponsoring the Fijiana Drua and they were even prouder about the result the team produced last year.

Raniga also confirmed that their funding towards the Fijiana Drua team was more than the men's team and this year, it has doubled to more than twice.

He has also pleaded with the FRU to re-look at the women's salary cap and if possible, increase it so it could be somewhere near or better yet equal to the men's team’s salary this season.

The Fijiana Drua will begin their Super W competition title defense against the Brumbies women’s team at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on the 25th of this month.
