The Rewa soccer team is the first team through to the semifinal of the Courts IDC after beating Nasinu 5-1 at the ANZ Stadium.

Rewa needed to win by four clear goals to book their place in the semifinal.

Epeli Valevou scored twice for Rewa in the first half as they led 2-0 at the break.

Isikeli Ratucava pulled a goal back for Nasinu in the 2nd half to bring Nasinu back in the match but Patrick Joseph scored Rewa’s third goal soon after.

Rewa missed several opportunities to score before substitute France Catarogo who came on for Bruce Hughes, scored two late goals to seal the win and send Rewa to the semifinal.

When questioned on why Bruce Hughes taken out after being substituted in 2nd half, coach Marika Rodu says he had told Hughes that they had 45 minutes to either stay in the tournament or back their bags and go home.

Rodu says he made a number of changes in this match because some of the key players were tired after playing in two tough matches earlier.

Navua is currently leading Nadi 1-0 in the second half.

Suva and Lautoka are currently locked at 0-0 while Labasa takes on Ba at 7pm. You can catch the live commentaries of both matches on Radio Sargam.
