Rewa defeated Labasa 3-nil in the first leg of the Pillay Garments Champions vs Champions series this afternoon at Subrail Park, Labasa.

Rewa led 1-0 at halftime.

Epeli Valevou starred with two goals for Rewa while Labasa’s Lekima Gonerau scored an unfortunate own goal in the 30th minute.

Rewa coach Rodeck Singh praised his team’s disciplined approach and highlighted that playing in front of Labasa’s home crowd is not easy.

Singh says the weather was also a plus point for them and they will now move their focus towards the second leg of the match.

Rewa will now look to seal the series when they host Labasa in the second leg next week at Ratu Cakobau Park.
