Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has confirmed that the revised National Budget will be announced on March 24th this year.

Fijians can make written submissions which can be posted, hand-delivered or e-mailed to budgetconsultation@economy.gov.fj

Face to face consultations will also be undertaken and the Ministry of Economy will host an open chat forum on Facebook for Fijians to share their ideas and have an interactive discussion.

Further details will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the COVID-19 pandemic has erased thousands of jobs in Fiji and government has provided a record breaking social support to the people which includes $500 million in direct and indirect assistance to affected Fijians.

Sayed-Khaiyum says now the worst is over and as announced last year, the Ministry has commenced preparations for a revised 2021-2022 National Budget.

He says it has never been more important to hear your views and ideas about how we recover better, stronger, and together.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the revised budget seeks to set us back on a successful trajectory which will also address some of the new challenges ahead of us in the post-pandemic world.
