Rev.Vunisuwai says Police Chaplain was forced to resign for delivering Methodist Church complaint letter about elections

The Chaplain's secondment has ceased effective immediately - Qiliho

President of the Methodist Church of Fiji, Reverend Ili Vunisuwai has confirmed to fijivillage News that Fiji Police Force Chaplain, Reverend Superintendent, Waisale Tikowale was forced to resign after he delivered the Methodist Church President’s letter raising his concern over the glitch on the Fijian Elections Office app last Wednesday.

Reverend Vunisuwai says this is very sad and concerning.

He expressed his disappointment and raised the question why the Fiji Police Force forced Reverend Superintendent, Waisale Tikowale to resign based on him delivering the letter.

Reverend Tikowale delivered the Methodist Church President’s letter to the Commissioner of Police, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho.

In the letter, Reverend Vunisuwai said the event that occurred on Wednesday 14th December where there was a glitch in the Fijian Elections Office app casts doubts about the provisional results.

He says while there were explanations of the glitch provided, it was not convincing to restore the confidence of their members.

The Methodist Church President says they will continue to uphold justice, democracy, good governance and integrity.

He says it is their hope that due prudence will be provided to those who seek justice.

Qiliho says the Fiji Police Force Chaplain's secondment to the organisation has been ceased effective immediately.

He says he is presently on leave, and a senior delegation from the Fiji Police Force will facilitate his return to the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma upon the completion of his leave.

Qiliho says the reasons for the cessation of his secondment will not be divulged publicly and will be discussed personally with the President of the Methodist Church Reverend Ili Vunisuwai.
