SODELPA President, Ratu Epenisa Cakobau is urging members and supporters to respect due processes that will be undertaken for the appointment of the Party Leader and Deputy Leader who will lead SODELPA to the 2022 general elections.

Ratu Epenisa says the call is being made to correct misinformation that has been distributed on various social media platforms linked to the selection process of the two positions.

Ratu Epenisa says they are following the requirement of a competitive, transparent, nationally recognised selection process for the selection of Party Leader, Deputy Party Leader and other Executive positions as stipulated under the Party Constitution.

Ratu Epenisa says they understand and respect that the members and supporters have their own wishes as to whom should lead the party, however, they must acknowledge and respect that there are rigorous processes in place to ensure transparency and accountability in the selection process.

He says the Management Board which is the Party’s governing body approved at its meeting on 5th November, 2020 to outsource the management of the interview process.

Ratu Epenisa says at the same meeting, the Board recommended names to be on the interview panel which was finalized by the Working Committee.

Upon the conclusion of interviews, the panel will then present their recommendations to the Management Board.

The announcement will be made at the AGM to be held on Saturday 28th November, 2020.

Meanwhile there have also been personal attacks against some candidates like Aseri Radrodro who is vying for the Party Leader and Deputy Leader positions.

Caretaker Leader, Sitiveni Rabuka who is vying for another term as SODELPA Leader and Lynda Tabuya who is going for the Deputy Leader post are also facing a lot of attacks.
