Minister for Environment Dr. Mahendra Reddy says they will be launching the Litter Free Fiji Think Tank this Wednesday

Minister for Environment Dr. Mahendra Reddy says they will be launching the Litter Free Fiji Think Tank this Wednesday as an initiative to work with academics, non-governmental organisations and the private sector to address the continuing litter issues.

Reddy says littering is still a huge problem and many people do not realize its impact on the environment.

He says the Ministry will not need to regulate and interfere with people’s lifestyles if people adhere to guidelines and do not litter.

While officiating at the curtain raiser for the Environment Week, Reddy says people must learn to conduct themselves in a certain manner and not just because they are required to do so by the external party.

He says to commemorate Environment Week, various events have been organised so that Fijians gain insight into the urgent need to protect the environment.

The week long activities include quiz competitions for students, debate sessions and working with key regulatory authorities and government stakeholders.
