[L-R] Former MPs Niko Nawaikula, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua and Salote Radrodro and lawyer Jagath Karunaratne

The matter where former MPs Ratu Suliano Matanitobua, Niko Nawaikula and Salote Radrodro are appealing against their conviction and sentencing will be called in the Court of Appeal on 15th January next year.

They were convicted and sentenced on a charge each of giving false information to a public servant and obtaining financial advantage last year.

FICAC lawyers have been given time until 15th January to file their submission.

They along with former MP Adi Litia Qionibaravi are also appealing against the matter being transferred to the High Court from the Magistrates Court.

As FICAC will not be prosecuting Adi Litia on the charges of giving false information to a public servant and obtaining financial advantage, her lawyer Jagath Karunaratne has filed a notice of abandonment.

FICAC had filed a nolle prosequi as Adi Litia is not fit to stand trial due to her medical condition.

The court will deliver the ruling on the 15th of January.
