Former RFMF Commander and Great Council of Chiefs Chairman Ratu Epeli Ganilau has been laid to rest at the chiefly burial site of Delai Vuniduva in Somosomo, Taveuni.

Ratu Epeli is buried beside his father, the late Na Turaga na Tui Cakau sa Bale, Ratu Sir Penaia Kanatabua Ganilau and mother, the late Laisa Delaisomosomo Ganilau.

The body of Ratu Epeli was escorted by military personnel to the Sau Tabu or the chiefly burial site, where he was also accorded the final rites of the military known as the 21-gun salute.

The paramount chief of the Burebasaga confederacy Ro Teimumu Kepa says Ratu Epeli lived an exemplary life, one of service and gratitude to his people, the Vanua, the church and most importantly, to his family.

Attending the Thanksgiving Service was the Commander of the RFMF Major General Jone Logavatu Kalouniwai, former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, the Vunivalu Na Tui Kaba, Ratu Epenisa Cakobau, and family members of the late Ratu Epeli.

Ratu Epeli passed away last Tuesday.
