Isaia Walker-Leawere scored a try as Hawke’s Bay ended Otago’s reign as Ranfurly Shield holders after beating them 28-9 yesterday.

Lolangi Visinia, Folau Fakatava, and Kurt Baker scored the other tries for Hawke’s Bay.

Otago lost Vilimoni Koroi in the 62nd minute through a sin-binning after taking out a Hawke's Bay player in the air and then lost Slade McDowall through a red card in the 71st minute after a reckless tackle.

Hawke’s Bay begin their defence of the shield against North Harbour at 1.05pm Saturday.
