Yasawa and Mamanuca continue to experience strong winds, heavy rain and rough seas

Yasawa and Mamanuca group are currently experiencing strong winds and heavy rain as Category 3 Tropical Cyclone Vaianu continues to track between Fiji and Vanuatu.

A staff of Lomani Island Resort in Malolo informed fijivillage News that they started experiencing strong winds and heavy rain from this morning.

He says they have secured all loose items and are bracing for the worst.



South Sea Island Resort staff Jone Vosakilulu says they are experiencing strong winds and heavy rain in the Mamanuca Group.

He says the weather changed at around 8 this morning when the wind speed picked up.

Vosakilulu says work has been called off and they have secured the boats as they are also experiencing rough seas.

He adds some of the workers have been sent home while only a few staff are on the island.



A staff from Waya Island Resort in Yasawa says they had experienced strong winds and heavy rain in the morning, but as of now, it is cloudy and only brief showers.

Meanwhile, villagers in Vatulele are bracing themselves for strong winds and heavy rain.


They are also experiencing rough seas.
