Non-essential civil servants granted early release and are to remain at home tomorrow
Non-essential civil servants have been granted early release from work today, and are to remain at home tomorrow, given the likely continuation in adverse weather conditions and the risks posed by flooding and strong winds.

The Ministry of Civil Service says essential service providers are to continue operations as per their respective contingency and business continuity plans.

The centre of Severe Tropical Cyclone Vaianu is tracking between Fiji and Vanuatu, and is bringing strong winds and heavy rain across the country.

The Ministry says there have been reports of roads and accessways being flooded, and these conditions are expected to continue as Cyclone Vaianu moves further southeastwards and out of Fiji’s waters by later tomorrow afternoon.

The Ministry of Civil Service, in consultation with the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Risk Management, will continue to monitor the situation closely and issue updates as required.
