SODELPA MP Salote Radrodro

SODELPA MP Salote Radrodro has been found guilty of a count each of Giving False Information to a Public Servant and Obtaining Financial Advantage.

She falsely stated that her permanent place of residence was in Namulomulo Village, Nabouwalu, Bua and allegedly obtained $37,920.13 in parliamentary allowances between August 2019 and April 2020.

While delivering the judgement, High Court Judge, Justice Thushara Kumarage says one shudders to think how can someone say Namulomulo Village is a permanent residence when it is a place she visits.

Justice Kumarage says the court is content Radrodro knew or believed the information she provided to the Parliament mentioning her permanent address as Namulomulo to be false.

He further says there is not even an iota of evidence that shows that Namulomulo Village as her permanent residence to any other organisation except the Parliament.

Justice Kumarage says the court was shocked by the callous disregard of law by a seasoned politician with regard to her address being Tacirua with the Fijian Elections Office.

Justice Kumarage says Radrodro knew she was eligible to receive financial advantage consequent to the false information provided.

The case has been adjourned to Tuesday for sentencing submissions.

Radrodro is to sign in with FICAC on every other day until she is sentenced following the application made by FICAC Commissioner Rashmi Aslam.

Aslam says Radrodro has not been consistent in reporting to FICAC.
