Ra is proving to be a major threat in this year's Fiji Primary Schools Tuckers Ice Cream Athletics Competition after dominating the Under 14 boys and girls 1,500 metres events this morning.
Vereniki Rasuwaki won gold with a time of 5 minutes 23.21 seconds while teammate Meniusi Rokotuva won silver with a time of 5 minutes and 33.54 seconds to extend Ra's medal tally.
Ratu Lekile Cakausereki of Macuata South took the bronze medal with a time of 5 minutes and 4 seconds.
In the girls division, Teresia Mataiovatu won gold with a time of 5 minutes 46.13 seconds, Vilomena Menani, also from Ra, won silver in a time of 5 minutes and 54.10 seconds, while Makereta Tucaki of Taveuni won bronze with a time of 6 minutes and 4.50 seconds.
Meanwhile, the Western primary schools dominated the 1,500 metres events this morning with Siteri Nabite of Nadroga/Navosa winning the first gold in the U13 girls 1,500 metres with a time of 5 minutes 17.37 seconds.
Miriama Fositina of Ra came in second place, while Kirisitina Buasega of Macuata North won bronze.
In the U13 boys division, Ra dominated the race with Josua Moape winning gold with a time of 4 minutes 56.76 seconds, while teammate Manueli Macawai claimed silver.
Isikeli Waqa of Cakaudrove won bronze.
More than 2,000 athletes are taking part in the two day athletics championship that is currently underway at the HFC Bank Stadium.
