The people of Ra will soon benefit from easier access to essential mortuary services, ending years of long travel for grieving families once a new 18-berth mortuary is completed at the Ra Subdivisional Hospital.

While speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the $250,000 facility, Minister for Health, Dr Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu emphasised that the Ministry is primarily focused on upgrading health facilities, with the construction of mortuaries regarded as a secondary priority.

He acknowledged the need for these facilities and announced that the government plans to build 10 mortuaries across the country during this financial year.

Rakiraki Town Chamber of Commerce President, Latchman Goundan expressed gratitude to the various businesses in the town that contributed funds for the project.

He says the new facility would enable the people of Ra to provide dignified funeral arrangements for their loved ones.
