Public consultation begins to formulate a new National Development Plan

The Ministry of Finance, Strategic Planning, National Development and Statistics is currently formulating a new National Development Plan for Fiji that will cover a 3-year, 5-year and 20-year plan.

The Ministry says the government aims to launch a comprehensive plan by mid this year that will result in fostering lasting national unity and shared vision as well as social, economic and political advancement of Fiji.

The Ministry is encouraging the public, non-government organisations, communities and other stakeholders to attend the consultation in their respective areas.

Head of Strategic Planning Office, Kamal Gounder says more than 290 meetings is planned around the country of which 77 meetings are planned in Central Division, 47 in Western Division, 102 in Northern Division and 72 in Maritime and Outer Islands.

The consultation meetings will finish this year by the 21st of March.

The consultations today are as follow: Central Division: Wainimakutu Village hall from 9am-11am, Namosi Village hall from 12pm–2pm, Nakavika Village hall from 3pm-5pm, Vunibau Village from 6pm-8pm.

West: Matokana Community hall at 10am-11am, Nalebaleba Community from 2pm-3pm.

North: Nakorovou Village hall from 9am-11am, Nasaisaivua Community hall from 12pm-2pm, Namalata Village hall from 3pm-5pm.

Eastern: Nasauvuki Village hall, Moturiki, and Uluibau Village School from 9.30am – 12pm.
