Cancer Survivor, Sisa Tiko

For those men who are frightened or ashamed to get checked, just go, they will not slot anything up your bottom, it is just a blood test.

Prostate Cancer Survivor, Sisa Tiko highlighted this today when he shared his journey on what he went through in his fight.

Tiko says at first it started with frequent trips to the bathroom at nights, sometimes as many as seven times.

He says what made those trips to the bathroom worse was finding it hard to relieve himself at times.

Tiko says that at first he thought herbal medicines would help but it did not, and what convinced him was when his bones started getting sore.

He went to CWM Hospital and was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer and referred to Dr Rajeev Patel, the resident urologist.

Tiko says a lot of things went through his mind but he finally decided to get the surgery and now all the pain is gone from his body.

He says he is grateful for all the family support he got.

Tiko says he is also thankful to the Fiji Cancer Society who visited him every week, checked his blood and monitored his recovery.

He says all the men out there still dragging their feet should just go and get checked.

After hearing Sisa Tiko talk about the pain he went through and denials he simply said “when something is wrong do not wait around and think herbal medicine will help, take yourself to the hospital”.
