The Proposed NextGen Alliance Party has submitted its application for registration to the Registrar of Political Parties, Ana Mataiciwa.
The submission was brought by Noleen Billings.
Billings is Savusavu businesswoman and also engages in community work.
Mataiciwa confirms that the FEO is now preparing to publish the party’s application in a newspaper and in the Gazette, as required under the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Act 2013.
She says once the publication is made, the objections period will officially open.
She also says during the objections period, any person may submit a written objection to the FEO regarding the party’s application for registration.
The Political Party Registrar says the FEO will assess and respond to all objections within seven days of receipt, after giving the proposed party an opportunity to respond, and will afterwards inform both the objectors and the applicant party of its decision.
Following the completion of this process, Mataiciwa says the proposed political party will be advised on whether its application for registration has been approved or rejected.
She says this decision will be made after a thorough compliance check with all requirements set out in the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Act 2013.
The FEO reiterates the importance of transparency and public participation in the political party registration process, ensuring that all proposed parties meet the legal requirements and that the public has the opportunity to engage meaningfully.
