Popo's Farm loses nearly 2000 chickens in floods last night

Popo’s Farm, which is a poultry farm at Waituri, Nausori has suffered a great loss in last night’s downpour as nearly 2,000 chickens died in the flood.

Director, Lagesh Prasad says he has lost meat and layer birds and there has been damage to his supply of feed as well.

Prasad estimates the loss at around $50,000 but says they are still clearing out dead birds and will only be able to confirm total loss once that has been done.

He says the biggest contributor to the loss is the problem of drainage, which he says has always been the case at his farm.

Prasad says he also suffered a loss of $180,000 in 2014, where his farm had sustained damages to livestock and feed due to flooding.
