Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu says they will continue to recruit more Police Officers next year to meet the United Nations standards due to the increase in crime rate in the country.

While speaking on the Viti FM Vakaribamalamala Show, ACP Driu says until now, their officers are outnumbered as a single Police officer is serving 194 citizens of this country.

He says they have done what they could after receiving concerns from stakeholders regarding their lack of presence during business hours, but are working on improving their standard of service to all members of the public.

He adds that with the increase in crime during this festive season, their 207 new recruits have been deployed to every division in the country to assist in the fight against crime.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations says they have organised their Crime Prevention Committee to get their message through that they need support from the community they serve.

ACP Driu calls on every Fijian to work with the Police and ensure a safe and conducive environment for all druing this festive season.
