A video has gone viral on social media where a police officer is seen assaulting and manhandling a bus driver in Labasa Town this afternoon.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro has confirmed that the matter will be investigated.

It can be seen in the video that the driver is sitting on the driver's seat and the officer is trying to force the driver out of the bus by wrapping his hand around the neck and violently pulling it backwards.

The driver is then saying that he cannot breathe and the officer is telling him to show his license.

The driver is also heard asking what he has done wrong and the officer replied that he was blocking the road.

One of the passengers who was present in the bus said that the officer is wrong and they were getting late.

The officer then said that he asked for the driver’s license and other details but the driver refused.

One passenger is also telling the officer that he cannot do what he was doing but the officer said he knows his job.

The officer again tried to drag the driver out of the bus by grabbing his neck.

National Federation Party MP Lenora Qereqeretabua was also at the scene and was heard telling the driver that violence is not the way and there are different ways of doing things.

The officer responded that he was asking nicely but the driver was refusing to come out.
