Police have confirmed that they will investigate 8 employees of different companies after their mandatory 14 days quarantine period.

This comes after breaches at a COVID-19 quarantine facility in Nadi last Tuesday.

Police say the circumstances and details on how the unauthorised entry was allowed will be determined after the investigations.

Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong says that these people are currently in quarantine.

Dr Fong says this is about an unauthorised entry into the quarantine facility.

Meanwhile, 1 active COVID-19 case remains admitted at the Lautoka Hospital isolation unit while 936 people who recently arrived from overseas are undergoing mandatory 14-day quarantine in government-supervised border quarantine facilities.

It has been 342 days since the last case was detected outside border quarantine on April 18th 2020.

Fiji has had 67 cases in total, with 64 recoveries and 2 deaths, since our first case was reported on March 19th 2020.

The last 49 cases have been international travel-associated cases detected in border quarantine.

A total of 36,597 COVID-19 laboratory tests have been conducted so far in Fiji.
