Commissioner of Police, Sitiveni Qiliho has announced that brand new vehicles will be handed to the Baulevu Police Post in Nausori and the Raviravi Police Post in Ba for better mobility in their operations.

Speaking during a press conference, Qiliho stated that these vehicles will be equipped with separate telephone numbers which will be programmed into their systems. These vehicles have been handed to the Police by the Ministry of Economy.

This will enable people to call the Police officers who are on patrol rather than calling the Police posts in case of urgent police assistance.

This is in response to the residents of Baulevu, who had expressed their disappointment with the Police service delivery especially by the Baulevu Police Post and claimed that a number of cases involving crop thefts and damaging property were pending for over a year.

In another incident that occurred in Baulevu, the Nav Durga Temple was broken into and the holy book, Ramayan was set on fire.

Meanwhile, the residents of Raviravi in Ba have been given assurances of Police patrol in the area after some concerns were raised regarding the thefts and their safety.

While reacting to the complaints earlier, Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum had said that community intelligence gathering would also be needed to assist the Police and they will look into the issue and assessments will be made on a Police vehicle for these areas.
