Please restore FNPF pension benefits to their former levels as our pensions have been reduced by almost 50 percent.

This is the call from the former Executive Director of the Fiji Council of Social Services, Hassan Khan who says there should be some compensation as no FNPF pensioner should be receiving less than $1,500 per month.

While speaking during the CSO Forum on Effective Development Cooperation, Khan says this proposed amount is sufficient for a pensioner under present circumstances where food prices, cost for public transportation and inflation is increasing.

The Permanent Secretary for Economy, Shiri Gounder says the reform had taken place to ensure the young generation that is currently contributing to the FNPF also have pension savings when they retire.
