Former radio announcer Pio Ratuwaqa will serve 10 months in prison.

He was found guilty of one count each of manslaughter and driving while having alcohol in excess of the prescribed limit.

Justice Thushara Rajasinghe sentenced Ratuwaqa to 2 years.

The judge deducted the 2 months Ratuwaqa spent in remand and also suspended another 12 months for 3 years.

Ratuwaqa will serve the remaining 10 months.

He was involved in a road accident along Nasese in Suva in March 2019 where he lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the road at Gardiner Place.

A 26-year-old woman who was the passenger was rushed to the CWM Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
