The Philippines Women's Football side won their first-ever FIFA Women's Soccer World Cup Game last night when they stunned co-host New Zealand 1-0.

Philippines left-back Sarina Bolden was the toast for her side scoring their lone goal in the first spell through a header which happened to be the only goal of the game and the winner as well.

The Football Ferns toiled hard to try and reply to Bolden's goal but the Philippines side held their ground in defence preventing the co-host from scoring.

New Zealand had the most possession in the game but they just could not create opportunities as the Philippines were resolute in their defence holding off the determined attack from the Football Ferns.

Switzerland now leads Group A with 4 points followed by New Zealand and Philippines with 3 points each, while Norway is in 4th place.

In other matches last night, Colombia beat South Korea 2-0 and Switzerland drew with Norway nil-all.
