Brazilian football legend Pele is recovering well after being briefly readmitted to intensive care following a recent operation.

The 80-year-old had surgery to remove a tumour from his colon earlier this month and was released from intensive care on Thursday.

Sao Paulo's Albert Einstein Hospital confirms he was readmitted as a preventative measure.

His eldest daughter, Kely Nascimento says he is recovering well and within normal range.

He had been having treatment at the hospital since 31st August after the tumour was detected in routine tests.
