The passengers and drivers of the fatal road accident in Navua yesterday afternoon are still admitted at the Navua Hospital.

Two women who were passengers in separate vehicles died in the accident after the vehicles they were travelling in were involved in a head on collision near Naimelimeli.

Police say the first victim was in her 60s and was travelling with three others and returning to Suva and the second woman was in her 40s.

The second woman was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a man in his 20s who is alleged to have overtaken a number of vehicles at one time when it hit the oncoming vehicle.

The woman in her 60s died at the scene while the second woman passed away at the CWM Hospital last night.

The road death toll currently stands at 33 compared to 50 for the same period last year.
