A unique and eye opening Christmas set up has been done at Thurston Street by the Pacific Conference of Churches and the Pacific Ocean Litter Youth Project where they used plastic materials and trash from the Suva foreshore.

The set-up displayed Joseph and Mary projected with bottle caps and other materials that show how trash around us can be reused and recycled.

Climate Justice Intern Bedi Racule of the Pacific Conference of Churches says they reached out to the Pacific Ocean Litter Youth Project, who pitched the idea and began collecting trash with the volunteers.

Racule says this project aimed to highlight the issue of plastic waste pollution in our oceans, especially during Christmas. General Secretary of Pacific Conference of Churches, Reverend James Bhagwan says people must ensure how they dispose their rubbish and try to reuse the plastic products around them before they even recycle them.

Reverend Bhagwan says people will see this project and understand the amount of trash in the ocean and around us.
