Opposition Member of Parliament Sachida Nand and Minister for Policing Ioane Naivalurua.

Opposition Member of Parliament Sachida Nand and Shalen Kumar have officially joined the Group of 11, as confirmed this morning in Parliament by Speaker Filimone Jitoko.

The Group is led by Minister for Policing, Ioane Naivalurua.

Nand and Kumar had earlier voted for the motion to table the Constitution Amendment Bill.

Jitoko says he received a formal information from Nand and Kumar of their status and have withdrawn their support from the Leader of Opposition and the Leader of the Group of 17 bloc.

He says Nand and Kumar informed the Speakers Office that they shall remain as independent MPs for the remainder of this parliamentary term.

The Speaker says siting arrangements will be made accordingly.
