Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says there is no increase in the number of civil service positions except for the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Local Government and the Fiji Police Force.

He highlighted this in Parliament while responding to SODELPA MP, Aseri Radrodro’s question on why there is an increase in budget for the Treasury Department and does this mean that recruitments will continue for the Department when a freeze was announced in the 2021-2022 National Budget.

Sayed-Khaiyum says there is an overall reduction in the budget for Policy and Administration for the Ministry of Economy.

He adds the Ministry has a reduction in their established staff allocation by about $195,000.
