The Oceania Weightlifting Federation is making a historical transition as Fiji will be hosting the for the first time the Oceania Weightlifting Federation's highly esteemed Oceania Talent Identification Program.

The program will be organised, coordinated, and facilitated by the President of Weightlifting Fiji Della Shaw who is taking over from the previous exclusive stewardship of Paul Cofa from Australia.

The Oceania Weightlifting Federation's highly esteemed Oceania talent identification program is set to make history as it ventures beyond its traditional setting at the Oceania Weightlifting Institute.

To allow a seamless transition for the OTIP program the National Weightlifting Coach Henry Elder is engaged in extensive consultations with Cofa.

Shaw will take charge of the event with the valuable assistance of Luisa Peters who is the former President and current National Coach of the Cook Islands Weightlifting, Federation and the International Weightlifting Federation's Athletes Rep.

Cofa says this groundbreaking move brings together 13 promising athletes from 8 countries within the Oceania region.

He says the program has been instrumental in identifying and nurturing the most talented youth in the Oceania region.

The program starts from the 10th to the 18th of this month and will place a strong emphasis on teaching and developing technical skills, culminating in a mini competition to showcase the participant's progress.
