None of the fundraising activities for the Fijian and Fijiana 7s teams have been approved or endorsed by Team Fiji or Fiji Rugby – FRU

The Fiji Rugby Union says they wish to clarify that none of the fundraising activities for the Fijian and Fijiana 7s teams online in particular through social media have been approved or endorsed by Team Fiji or Fiji Rugby.

In a statement they say that none of these initiatives have applied for relevant fundraising permits from relevant government agencies nor sought approval from Team Fiji or Fiji Rugby.

They say they have had to initiate action after they received concerns and complaint from the Management of the Team that they are not aware of such initiatives nor have been consulted on any of the initiatives.

The FRU also says while they appreciate the kind gesture and support for the Sevens teams it wishes to clarify that all public fundraising initiatives must comply with all relevant laws including permits, tax clearance and relevant sanction by Team Fiji or Fiji Rugby with transparent processes.
