No time has been given by the Water Authority of Fiji as to when water supply will normalize for people living in elevated areas in the Samabula, Tamavua and the greater Suva areas.

WAF Chief Operating Officer, Seru Soderberg says the recent continuous heavy rains resulted in increased discharge of silt and soil into the Waimanu River causing heavy turbidity.

He says this presented pumping challenges for the Waimanu Raw Water Pumps and has impacted the treatment and production rate of the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant.

Soderberg says the reduction in production levels at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant is currently affecting water supply to customers ranging from low pressure, intermittent to no water supply.

He says the WAF operations teams are working to rectify this by prioritising the replenishment of service reservoirs to desired levels to allow water supply to be normalise in the areas impacted.
