Police Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra says there have been no fatal road accidents from the 15th of last month to date.

25 road fatalities were recorded last year compared to 45 in 2020 and SSP Mishra says this is the lowest recorded fatalities on our roads in the last four decades.

He has acknowledged the joint operation between Police, Land Transport Authority and the Accident Compensation Commission throughout the festive season.

SSP Mishra says there were LTA enforcement officers and traffic and highway officers who worked long hours to ensure people are safe.

He adds this festive season operation will end on the 15th of this month.

It includes random stop checks by officers, awareness and breathalyzer tests.

SSP Mishra says their presence on our roads is for the safety of people and they hope people will be understanding and comply.
