New structure for Counter Narcotics Bureau and re-advertising each post under the unit planned - Tudravu

Minister for Policing, Ioane Naivalurua and Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu have agreed to conduct an urgent review into the Counter Narcotics Bureau based at the Ministry after two officers from the Bureau were charged in relation to the alleged unlawful importation of more than 4 kilograms of methamphetamine in Nadi.

The two officers, Uraia Tiudamu Bolalailai and Apenisa Matadigo have been charged with one count each of Unlawful Importation of Illicit Drugs; Contrary to Section 5 (b) of the Illicit Drugs Act, 2004.

Four others including a foreign national are facing similar charges.

The drugs came from a Southeast African country.

When asked by fijivillage News, Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu says he and Minister Naivalurua are looking at a new structure for the Bureau and re-advertising of each post under the unit is being planned.

He say as they are police officers on secondment at the Bureau, they will return to the organisation and those who want to join will have to apply.

Tudravu confirms he had a meeting with Naivalurua on the operations of the Counter Narcotics Bureau on Thursday.
