New lease of life for Momin and Asata after successful surgeries

New lease of life for Momin and Asata after successful surgeries

6-year-old Abdul Momin and 7-year-old Asata Dauvere got a new lease of life after their successful surgeries over the weekend at the Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Heart Hospital.

Fazia Bi of Wairabetia Lautoka says her son Abdul was admitted for pneumonia to the Lautoka Hospital when he was just 3 months old.

An echo was done and they found out that her son had a tiny hole in his heart which they were advised would close as he grew up.

She further says she started to notice that something was wrong from when he was 3 to 4 years old as he could not gain weight.

Through social media, Fazia found out about the Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Heart Hospital and the free screenings they were going to do at Lautoka Hospital.

After an examination by the team, they discovered that the hole in Momi’s heart was still there and he would have to undergo surgery.

The first thing that crossed Fazia’s mind was how they were going to get the money for the surgery which is why she was so emotional when the team told her that it would be free.

The grateful mother says she almost gave up when the doctors explained the procedure to her.

She said while she was scared for her son, she did it so that he can have a better future.

Her advice to other mothers out there is to get their children screened so they can at least have a peace of mind.
