Rooster Chicken Fijian Drua Women’s debutant Merewairita Neivosa scored a double to help her side secure a 32-21 win over the Queensland Reds in their Super Rugby Women’s opener.

The Reds side kicked things off as they pressured the Drua in their own half for the first quarter before crossing over in the 15th minute with a converted try to take an early 7-0 lead.

The Drua quickly strike back with a try to flanker Teresia Tinanivalu to keep them in reach at 7-5.

The referee saw yellow as a Reds player was sent off but the Drua could not capitalise on their numerical advantage and went into halftime leading 10-7.

The Drua scrum was one of their main attacking weapons in the game as they were able to easily get so many penalties from it.

Drua prop Anasimeci Korovata opened up the scoring in the second half as she picked up the ball from a ruck and bulldozed over the Reds halfback extending their lead.

Merewairita scored her second try in the 76th minute ensuring that the Reds do not take away a losing bonus point to end things at 32 -21 to the Drua.
