Blitzboks coach Neil Powell

South Africa Rugby says Blitzboks coach Neil Powell will be forced to coach his team remotely during the Olympics after being put in isolation for a compulsory

Powell tested positive in Kagoshima after the team travelled to the southern city for a week-long training camp on Saturday - a camp that had already been delayed after a passenger on their flight from Doha to Tokyo earlier in the week tested positive for the coronavirus.

Assistant coach Renfred Dazel, who will take over the on-field coaching responsibilities for the tournament, said the players were coping with the obstacles.

South Africa is in the same group as USA, Kenya and Ireland.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Men’s 7s team will begin their defence of the gold medal against Japan at 12pm next Monday and then play Canada at 8pm.

Fiji will play Great Britain at 12.30pm next Tuesday.

The quarterfinals will start at 8.30pm next Tuesday, the semi-finals will be played from 2pm next Wednesday while the final will be played at 9pm next Wednesday.
