Deans U18: Nasinu one step away from creating history after 33-20 win over Cuvu

The Nasinu Secondary School under 18 rugby side is one step away from creating history after beating Cuvu College 33-20 in the first semi final of the Vodafone Super Deans this afternoon.

Nasinu scored the first points of the match through a converted try by Rafaele Dagaga for them to take a 7-0 lead before Cuvu replied with an unconverted try from their skipper Josaia Ralulu to trail 7-5.

Viliame Matailevu scored a further 2 converted tries for Nasinu to to extend their lead to 21-5.

Cuvu then came back and scored two unconverted tries to their and inside centre Bokoi and winger Timoci Kirihama to trail 21-15 at the break.

Cuvu started the second half well scoring their 4th unconverted try to close the gap to 21-20 but Nasinu extended their lead to 28-20 just a minute later.

Nasinu scored another try at the stroke of full time with the conversion unsuccessful for the final score.

Nasinu will take on the winner of the second semi final between Queen Victoria School and Ratu Navula College which is currently underway.

In the Weet-Bix Raluve Championship under 16, Niusawa Methodist High School defeated ACS 22-17 and Sigatoka Methodist College thrashed Lelean Memorial School 48-0. Natabua will take on Adi Cakobau School in the under 18 final after ACS beat Bucalevu Secondary School 12-5 in the first semi final.

In the U14 finals Ratu Kadavulevu School will play Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School.

The Suva schools battle in the U15 as Marist Brothers High School will face Suva Grammar School.

In the U16 Suva Grammar plays Lelean Memorial School while in the U17 Marist will play RKS.

Lami High School will hope to make history as they meet QVS in the U19 final next week. Stay with us for updates.
