The Nasareci Methodist Church will celebrate its 50th anniversary tomorrow in Nepani, honouring the people who have kept the faith and helped shape the community over the years.
Committee member and Church Steward Joeli Tikoduadua told fijivillage News that he moved to Nepani when he was 9 years old, and the Government had allocated land to three churches - the Catholic Church, the Assemblies of God, and the Methodist Church.
Tikoduadua says the congregation has steadily grown, and the church now has more than 260 registered families who are active members.
He says members from around the country and those living overseas will come together over the next few days to celebrate the 50th anniversary in a true family spirit.
The committee says the program will begin with a walk from 8am to 9am tomorrow, followed by a march around the Nepani neighbourhood.
The Talatala Qase of the Methodist Church will then conduct the anniversary church service.
Tikoduadua adds that they organised several programs this week to bring members together, including sessions with former sevens maestro Waisale Serevi, who spoke to youths and children about the dangers of drugs and HIV.
He says it will be an emotional and fun-filled celebration, as former church members are also expected to attend the event.
The main celebration will begin at 7.30am tomorrow in Nepani, and the public is welcome to join.
