FNU graduate Sitiveni Naqica

Sitiveni Naqica defied all odds to receive his Certificate in Agriculture Level 3 at the Fiji National University after falling from a breadfruit tree and severely injuring himself.

He attended his graduation despite being bedridden, determined to secure a good job.

Naqica who hails from Naitasiri, was emotional as he recalled the days he was bedridden and spent it contemplating his studies and future.

He says his family had doubts that he would not be able to graduate but he kept pushing himself to prove everyone wrong.

Naqica proudly received his certificate while sitting in a wheelchair, his smile a testimony to his faith, hope, and joy.

He is urging all current students not to give up on their dreams, no matter the obstacles they face.

Fiji National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba has reminded the graduates that graduation is just the beginning, teeming with possibilities.

She is encouraging the graduates to embrace this chapter with open arms, poised to leave their mark on the world.

36 students graduated with their Master's degrees today, while more than 300 students graduated from the College of Business, Hospitality, and Tourism Studies, and 87 graduated from the College of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry.
