Epeli Laqeni, who allegedly killed his de-facto partner in Nakasi between September 3rd and 5th, has been remanded by Nasinu Magistrate Jone Bale during a special court sitting this afternoon.
Laqeni is charged with one count of murder and has requested Legal Aid assistance.
Acting Sergeant Selina Mills confirms that Laqeni shows no signs of mental incapacity and made no confession during his caution interview.
She says he was arrested on September 5th and since then has been recovering at CWM Hospital.
Mills told the court that police strongly objects to bail, however, no formal bail application has been filed by Laqeni.
Magistrate Bale asked how he sustained injuries, the prosecution says its the result of the argument between the two.
As a former Fiji Corrections Service officer, Laqeni requested to be transferred to the Suva Corrections Centre instead of the Suva Remand Centre for his own safety, saying he would be unable to defend himself if something happened to him there.

Magistrate Bale has transferred the matter to the Suva High Court, which is set to hear the case on 17 October.
Laqeni will appear again in the Nasinu Magistrates Court on October 3rd.
