Instead of simply relaxing or engaging in personal activities, the youths of Naivakacau in Tailevu have chosen to dedicate their time and energy towards community service and helping those in need during their school holidays.

Naivakacau Youth Leader, Mitieli Ravudolo says the youths had a fundraising drive such as a kava barrel and youth soli day and were able to raise close to $19,000.

Ravudolo says they were able to build a bus stop, plant close to 50 plants around the village and had homes installed with solar panels.

He says the youths also assisted the elderly and disabled individuals within their community.

He also says they have offered their assistance doing daily chores, running errands, or simply providing companionship, bringing the much-needed support and comfort to those who need it the most.

Ravudolo further says they have arranged various awareness campaigns on issues such as mental health, environmental conservation and safety measures.

Village Headman, Navitalai Vunimoli says the impact of their work is evident, as it is not only improving their immediate surroundings but also inspiring others to get involved and contribute towards creating a better society.
